Developing a relevant, comprehensive, and cohesive curriculum that meets the wide and varied needs of adults in community-based ESL programs can be a daunting task. An effective curriculum must satisfy the rigor required by governing agencies yet also be digestible for learners and teachers, all while maintaining consistency within the adult education program. This session will outline the development process for a community-based ESL curriculum which weaves together resources and best practices to meet learners’ and other stakeholders’ needs. The presenter will share a template which participants can adapt to their specific contexts.
