The presenters hope to shine a light on ESL in corrections and the need for more interventions behind bars. We will share problems and differences between teaching and learning ESL in the community and in corrections: building rapport with strong boundaries, finding appropriate curriculum, evaluating what success looks like for ELLs behind bars, and advocating for incarcerated individuals in correctional education.
